Project Features:

The Tarong Power Station works comprised 2 major components. The first of these was the excavation and placement of over 500,000 bcm of compacted embankment fill material excavated from the spillway. The embankment was constructed on top of a system of finger drains and outlets with rock rip rap also placed for batter protection. The works were carried out within a highly sensitive environmental area without incident. The spillway and immediate work area was reconstructed and re-grassed on completion. Following the spillway works a second contract was awarded for the construction of the ash dam haul road.
